FaceTime

Well, this blog hasn't gone as I had planned because my girls just can't seem to ever stay at home for too long. I have figured out a solution to this and could kick myself for not thinking of it sooner!

All my girls have an iPod Touch. Yes, I'm one of THOSE moms. Before you cringe, though, let me say that they have been very helpful in many situations. What I'm about to tell you is just another one of those times.

FaceTime. It's a wonderful tool on both the iPod Touch and the iPad. Video chatting isn't exactly a new thing but before it did require at least a laptop if you were on the go. With the iPods the girls just carry it in a purse or pocket and when I ring them, I see their beautiful faces when they aren't with me.

I have an iPad in which I'll use as we are doing our "reading through the Bible". It has the bigger screen, of course, where everyone can see the person on the other end clearly while we study.

See, technology is amazing if you use it wisely.

Stay tuned...about to begin again....again.

Sin Enters the World

Today marks the new start of our studies.  We didn't start until tonight around 8:30, but at least we did it.

The girls gave me fits tonight. Just acting up.  Sometimes I wonder if they do it just because I laugh when I'm annoyed and they think I find it funny.  Maybe it was just because we are still in the story of creation and they know it so well.  Oh well, maybe a better day tomorrow.

Today's reading:   Sin Enters the World - Genesis 3:1-24

Next reading:  Cain and Abel - Genesis 4:1-16

About to Begin

I wanted to wait before we started this again.  Morgan had a trip she had to take to Seattle this weekend for a gig, so I figured we'd start when she got back.  Sadly though, she didn't get to go.  Funds were a little low for an airline ticket just a few days before flying.  That's my fault for procrastinating when I could have gotten it for less than $300.  She also broke her toe the other night, so she wouldn't be able to dance anyway.  Due to that, I'm sort of glad I procrastinated on buying the ticket.  I would have hated to see that money go to waste or deal with a refund.

So, tomorrow we start back up.  Stay tuned...

Mom, Girls, and God

The girls and I have decided to do our Bible study a little differently.  I've always wanted to guide them in reading through the Bible, but have never really gotten around to it.  I really never could find anything as far as a guideline to go by that has study questions and such while doing so.  Until now...

I bought this about a month ago and we've completed only two lessons.  I plan to do it daily, but with things being so busy the last month or two it's been hard, so we've pretty much just been doing what we've done before finding this.  We are about to go full force into it though.

This is a really neat Bible.  It gives you a short path and a long path.  We are choosing the long path to get deeper into certain subjects.  Each lesson gives a few questions and discussions and leads you to the next lesson's readings.  The lessons are in order in which they happened, not just going through the Bible from Genesis to Revelations, so it's easier to understand when things happened exactly.

Allison and Emily are gone to visit some friends for spring break, so we won't be able to start back up until they get home, but check back later on this week for our return.
